There are four routes to citizenship in Mauritius

Marriage

Foreign spouses of Mauritian citizens can apply for Mauritius citizenship by registration. To get Mauritius citizenship, the foreign spouse should have resided with their Mauritian spouse in Mauritius for 4 consecutive years before applying.

Investment

Investors can become Mauritian citizens by investing upon meeting specific conditions. The requirements for Mauritius citizenship by investment include investing a minimum of $500,000 in Mauritius and residing in the country for at least 2 years before applying. Note that this process may involve significant hurdles. An alternative to Mauritius citizenship by investment in investing at least USD375,000 in a property to live in Mauritius as long as you own the property.

Adoption

Foreign nationals can get Mauritius citizenship by adoption if the adoption is legally executed in Mauritius, and the adoptive parents are Mauritian citizens.

Registration

Children born in Mauritius before October 1, 1995, to Mauritian or foreign parents, or born after that date to at least one Mauritian parent, are eligible for citizenship by registration. Those born outside Mauritius can get citizenship if one of their parents is a Mauritian citizen by birth.
